Introducing the Brisbane Dietitian, Nutritionist and mum who is passionate about kids learning to love good food from birth and beyond.
Deb is an Accredited Practising Dietitian & Accredited Nutritionist, recognised by the Dietitians Association of Australia. She is particularly passionate about supporting grown-ups (parents, carers & early childhood educators) to positively & joyfully connect or reconnect with food & eating and share this with the children in their care.
Deb believes that ALL bodies are amazing, and she applies a weight-neutral, non-diet approach in supporting kids to grow into the bodies that are right for them. Her approach supports parents, carers, families & educators to make decisions about nutrition and health from a place of care & consideration rather than control. Deb is particularly skilled at working with children and families who are struggling with fussy eaters, problem feeders, children with sensory feeding issues (e.g. ASD, Aspergers Syndrome, ADD/ADHD) and children with weight concern.
“Who is the expert on your child? You are! I look forward to working with you as cheer-leader, coach and supporter. If you’re ready to make positive, lasting change to the way your family eats and experiences food, I’d love to hear from you.”
Deb Blakley, Accredited Practising Dietitian and Director
I believe in the right of every person to EAT HAPPY!
I believe that every child & every grown-up has the right to feel good about the body they live in, ALWAYS. Without question or condition.
I believe that every child is capable of growing up to be a competent and confident eater no matter what the nutrition challenge is.
I believe that every grown-up is capable of healing their relationship with food too!
I delight in helping families put the joy back into eating together.
Deb’s passion for kids learning to “dig” food was sparked by her daughter, who provides a constant source of action learning and on the job training.
Her nutrition career started more than 19 years ago after graduating from Queensland University of Technology with a Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. Deb is committed to ongoing professional development in the area of child & infant feeding and attends professional development, workshops and conferences each year to improve her skills.
Deb followed her heart to create Kids Dig Food in 2012 after many years as a hospital-based clinical dietitian, community dietitian and community nutritionist. She has led initiatives as diverse as breastfeeding promotion, feeding practices in early childhood education settings and food security. In these roles she saw first-hand the difference that JOY makes to feeding and eating.
Let Deb help you put the joy back into feeding your family today.
Nina is an Accredited Practising Dietitian & Accredited Nutritionist based on the Sunshine Coast and is a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia. Nina has spent the last 2 years being guided and mentored by Deb and understands first-hand how much can be gained by finding joy in family meal times.
Nina graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelors in Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) and while most of her time is spent as a hospital-based clinical dietitian, Nina’s passion lies in child-feeding and helping children to become happy, competent eaters. Nina’s own daughter was her inspiration on finding a ‘better’ way to do mealtimes and to find joy instead of stress.
“Teaching a child to become a competent eater is a skill that will last them a lifetime. Watching a child discover food in their own way, engaging all their senses, makes me realise that there is no better place to be than at a family meal that is focused on the enjoying good food and company”
Nina Meloncelli, Accredited Practising Dietitian
Nina offers a range of workshops for parents, early childhood educators and children throughout the Sunshine Coast.
